Hrdlichka was born in 1869 in a large family of Czech carpenter. At the age of thirteen he was brought to the United States, where, thanks to his talent and hard work became one of the greatest scientists of our century anthropologists and "pillar" of American Studies as an independent scientific discipline. His long life Hrdlichka dedicated to two major problems: "Neanderthal phase in the development of man" (so called one of the monographs of the venerable scholar) and the origin of the Indians.
