Burma campaign - from Imphal to Rangoon release in May 1945. The collapse of the Japanese attack Imphal from the spring of 1944 was a severe blow for them, but not as devastating to break their position in Burma. The success is now dependent on how effective would the following actions, and for that the British had to organize a reliable supply system. Joint Anglo-American headquarters in the directive of 3 June Mauntbettenu put the task to expand the air bridge in China and the means at its disposal forces to clear the land route. It was expected that this will be freed Burma, although no specific instructions to that effect have been reported. We considered two main plans: Plan "Capital" - the offensive on land in order to free the northern and central Burma and the plan "Dracula" - amphibious operation to capture southern Burma. Under the circumstances, General Slim and Americans preferred plan "Capital", and although it has been ordered to prepare for the implementation of both plans, the main attention was paid to the plan of "Capital".
